We don't do "mission trips"...
but we'd love to have you over for dinner.
Join a MITS Meza
'Meza' is the Swahili word for 'table'...and at MITS, we have a heart to serve differently - to bring supporters, staff, students, the privileged, and the "least of these" around the same table to do life together.
A trip to MITS will hopefully look different than a typical mission trip. You will serve alongside our team, sharing your gifts, but you will also be served - because, at the end of the day, we all have something to bring to the table.
Go...See...Do
Your time in Kenya will include activities that allow you to go, do, and see what MITS is all about and how your presence is a vital part of accomplishing our mission to love and serve teenagers on the streets.
Go. Buying a plane ticket, traveling across continents and time zones, and stepping into a culture different from your own is a big step - one that many people don't have the opportunity to take. Going to Kenya and joining our team allows you to be the hands and feet on the front lines.
See. A wise person once said, "What the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't grieve over." We believe that step one in meeting a need is knowing it exists...and being moved to action. We want you to be exposed to and see the reality of street life. But we also want you to be exposed to the beauty of Kenya, its people, and its culture. So part of your "seeing" on your trip will be going on safari!
Do. Beyond just going and seeing, you will also participate! You will join in alongside our team, doing what we do - leading in chapel, prepping in the kitchen, going on base walks, spending time encouraging the students. You will get to experience each area of the MITS ministry!
Trips for 2024 are FULL.

Why we don't do "mission trips"
In the past, we hosted trips typically referred to as “mission trips”.
Groups of individuals would come to Kenya and help us with a specific project. After a while, when all the facilities were built, walls painted, and gardens planted, our team found it difficult to match visiting groups with "mission trip" activities to do. What our team really needs is to share with people who are willing to listen. To sit across the table with visitors and share stories and ideas, to encourage and be encouraged, to share their passion for the organization and help people catch the vision of what was happening in Kenya. What we need is a community that crosses culture and oceans.
We want to help each other have new ways of seeing the world. We want to encourage each other with the powerful work of God’s global church. We want to laugh and make memories together.
We also want all of us to have more compassion for others after we open our hearts to the plight of the poor. It’s natural when people find themselves face to face with poverty - something significant happens. The rest of our lives will be irrevocably shaped by what we’ve seen, heard, and felt.
We remind ourselves that His power is made perfect in our weakness.
It is our great joy and privilege to work as collaborators with the Creator in extending His kingdom over one more life, one more family, and one more community.
We warmly invite you to experience this transformative work with us, not as volunteers on a "mission trip", but as our friends.
So, would you like to join us for dinner?
