Social Media & Communications Internship
Description:
MADE IN THE STREETS is a growing nonprofit organization with a clear message: we stand for street-connected youth around the world. We make use of mass communication channels such as social media, email, and others to share education and encouragement. We aim to mobilize our audience to get involved.
This is where you come in.
As the Social Media & Communications intern, you will play a key role in MITS' ongoing efforts to share our message with the world.
-
On social media, this will involve storytelling through posts about life at MITS—what's new, what's coming up, who we are, and what we're about. It will also include engaging with our followers by sharing the love and making sure the conversation goes both ways.
-
Over email, this may involve you collecting content (news, stories, photos) from our team in Kenya to compile for our weekly newsletter.
-
In addition to social media and email, this role might also take on special projects, as time allows or as MITS has needed. Those projects might include fundraising campaigns, researching for and writing blog articles, and more.
In this globally connected world, media is always changing but one thing is certain: it's here to stay. A nonprofit's digital identity is only as good as it's ability to communicate effectively online. The skills and tools you learn in this role will directly apply to media strategy and brand identity work in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Sound like something you're interested in?
