Because your stay with us in Kenya will be 3 months or more, you have three options (listed below) to ensure you are in Kenya legally for the duration of your time with MITS.
1. APPLY & PAY ONLINE FOR A SINGLE-ENTRY 90-DAY VISA & LEAVE KENYA BEFORE IT EXPIRES
Follow these instructions in the Visitor Manual for purchasing your 90-day tourist visa before you travel to Kenya. If you are working with MITS for 90 days or less, the single-entry 90-day visa is all you need.

2. APPLY & PAY ONLINE FOR A SINGLE-ENTRY 90-DAY VISA & PAY TO RENEW IT
Follow these instructions in the Visitor Manual for purchasing your 90-day tourist visa before you travel to Kenya.
If you are working with MITS for longer than 90 days, you will need to visit Nyayo House in Nairobi to renew the visa before it expires. This will be an experience similar to the DMV in the United States. Bring money, all the proper documents and snacks. Lots of snacks. As of April 2016, the renewal fee is $20.

3. APPLY & PAY BY MAIL BEFORE YOUR TRIP FOR A SINGLE-ENTRY 6-MONTH VISA
This must be done by mail at least 4 weeks before your departure to Kenya, via the Kenyan embassy in Washington D.C. It costs $50 (the same as the 90-day visa). Because all the countries in East Africa share a visa, this "single-entry 6-month visa" will allow you to travel between Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi & Rwanda while the visa is valid.
Please see the photos and information below to guide you through the steps. All this information can be found in greater detail on the Kenya Embassy website (www.kenyaembassy.com)
