Upload a passport-sized photo (500px by 500px): (do that)
Passport Photo requirements (from the eCitizen Website)
- Children 16 years and below do not need a visa! If you are traveling with a child that is 17 or older, you can apply for his/her visa through your own Evisa account, using the process described below.
- The first step toward submitting an application is to create an account with eCitizen. You can log in and out, BUT, it says it will save all of your info – it DOESN’T. You have to complete the entire application in one sitting. (So make sure you have all the files and information you need before you start.)
- Try to get it all right the first time because if you hit “submit” but have to correct something, you will have to upload your documents again!
- It may take up to a week for your visa to be approved. Be sure to submit your application with plenty of time to accommodate for this. Your 90 days does not start counting from the date you apply, or the date the visa is approved, it starts counting from the date you enter Kenya.
- Before you begin, please make sure you have all the following items within reach:
- A digital passport-sized photo of yourself (500px by 500px). We’ve had success using the “ID Photo-Passport Photo Maker” app on a smartphone to snap a properly sized photo.
- A digital copy of your passport bio page
- A digital copy of your passport front cover
- Host Invitation Letter (once your trip is confirmed, a team member will send to you)
- Host ID (once your trip is confirmed, a team member will send to you)
- A digital copy of your airline flight itinerary
- A credit card to pay the $51
Here is the Process, Step by Step
- Go to: http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html, and create an account.
- Verify your email (do this on the same device you are using to register)
- Upload your photo (you will have to do this again as part of the application)
- Click on Department of Immigration Services, then “Apply for Single Entry Visa.” At the bottom of the page, click “Apply Now”
- Complete the application, page by page, review your answers and hit “Submit.”
- Now that your application is complete, it is your responsibility to log back onto your account with http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html over the next few days to check and see if your application is approved. No one will email you if/when your visa application is approved. You have to check. After logging back in to the e-visa website to see if your visa has been approved, you'll see either "pending" or "issued" under the line labeled APPROVAL. If pending, check back again in a few days.
- Once your visa is approved (it may take several days), you'll see the word "Issued". Click "View" to the right and you'll be taken to a page which says "Application History". Click the blue "Downloads" box at the top right side of the screen to bring up a new page with your EVISA. Print this page and carry with you. This is your visa.
