DESCRIPTION:
MADE IN THE STREETS is a growing nonprofit organization with a clear message: we stand for street kids around the world. We make use of mass communication channels such as social media, email, and others to share education, encouragement, and to mobilize our audience to get involved. This is where you come in. As the Social Media & Communications intern, you will play a key role in MITS' ongoing efforts to share our message with the world.
In this globally connected world, media is always changing but one thing is certain: it's here to stay. A nonprofit's digital identity is only as good as it's ability to communicate effectively online. The skills and tools you learn in this role will directly apply to media strategy and brand identity work in both the nonprofit and for profit sectors. Sound like something you're interested in? MUST HAVE:
HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED:
EXPECTATIONS: 1. You write and post daily to the MITS Instagram account. 2. You write and post twice weekly to the MITS Facebook account. 3. As directed, you collect content from our team in Kenya for our newsletter. 4. Additional special projects as assigned/you have time: researching and writing blog articles, strategizing the social media/communications piece for upcoming fundraising campaigns. |
“Being a remote intern for MADE IN THE STREETS, I was able to learn more about the organization and how much good work they are doing in Kenya. Even though I have not been to Kenya with MITS (yet), I was touched by the stories of students and staff. If God hasn't called you specifically to Kenya but you still want to be involved in MITS, then the remote social media internship is a perfect way to do just that!”
