DESCRIPTION:
Once a MITS student turns 16, they complete their literacy courses and move to Skills. Skills students spend the next two years learning a vocational skill in either Catering or Cosmetology and gaining tools to help them acquire a job after graduation. Skills Interns spend their days in class with the Skills students. Your duties might vary greatly throughout the week, which keeps your time with us exciting. Though this role requires flexibility, the primary function is the same: to assist our teachers and administrators. This might look different on different days. For example:
MUST HAVE:
EXPECTATIONS: 1. Work with the Skills Centre Director and the rest of the Skills Centre staff to establish your weekly schedule. 2. Write a monthly article, to be posted in the MITS blog, that highlights various aspects of your life in the classrooms of the Skills Centre. FUNDRAISING: We provide you with fundraising tools and coaching to help you raise funds for your trip and recruit a team of supporters to be a part of this experience with you.
