DESCRIPTION
There are an estimated 60,000 children under the age of 18 living and working on the streets of Nairobi, Kenya. A large concentration of this population is in Eastleigh, a district of Nairobi that is close to the Mathare Valley slum. This is where our Eastleigh Centre is located, on 5th Street, and where we carry out most of our street outreach. Our street ministry staff spends their days visiting bases (where most of the children can be found), running programs, and offering love and support to all who visit the doors of the centre. Our street ministry team is the first point of contact for young people who are are living on the streets.
As a street ministry intern, you would spend 1-3 months volunteering your time with our outreach team. Daily and hourly responsibilities would vary, depending on the time you have available. You will not be compensated for your time, but the internship would be valuable experience for you as you pursue practical growth in ministry. Additionally, your time and input are valuable to Made in the Streets as we are constantly trying to make our ministry strategy more effective.
PLEASE NOTE
Though this internship is unpaid, housing at our facility might be included for all or part of the duration of your service with us. This would be offered based on need & availability and evaluated on a case by case basis.
