Vision
The Director of Strategic Growth assists MADE IN THE STREETS (MITS), an internationally known nonprofit organization, in changing the lives of at-risk children living on the streets of Kenya and around the World by providing fundraising opportunities that further the work of MITS; and helping to tell the remarkable story of MITS that will encourage individuals, families, churches, and other organizations to engage, volunteer, and financially invest in the work of MITS; and advancing opportunities for more people and groups to understand the plight of street children and take action.
 
Mission
The Director of Strategic Growth exists to grow the impact and opportunities for MITS to change the lives of street kids by: building relationships with donors; and managing details related to increasing the giving capacity of current and future donors; and seeking new avenues and opportunities to build the contact list of MITS followers and supporters; and expanding the reach and impact of MITS.
 
Action Items
​
The Director of Strategic Growth’s (DSG) primary objective is to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors for MADE IN THE STREETS (MITS). Adhering to a “Relational Model of Engagement”, the DSG will work closely with the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Partner Engagement (DPE) and the Board of Directors in all development and fund-raising endeavors.
This position is primarily responsible for fundraising growth for MITS, including but not limited to the following key performance areas:
Fundraising and Revenue Growth - 75%  
  • Maintain current donor relationship management database, including updating donor records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and pulling reports/queries as necessary.
  • ​Manage and/or oversee key relationships with existing and potential church, club, organization and corporate partners.
  • Meet and communicate with current and prospective donors on a continual basis to relationally grow their affinity for the organization.
  • Manage an assigned case load of churches, donors, partners, and prospects with intent to increase financial engagement. Develop aggregate donor management plans resulting in email and phone interaction, as well as local face to face interactions.
  • Develop and execute ongoing strategy for building partnerships with new churches and organizations.
  • ​Oversee and coordinate all fundraising events which include the annual fundraising dinners and hybrid events in person and on-line.
  • Responsible to meet all fundraising goals set out by the ED.
  • ​Work with DPE to submit current and new grant applications.
  • Build and oversee the planned giving program.
  • ​Encourage current and future donors’ faith journey and Jesus-led lifestyle through generosity.
 
Missional Growth and Advancement - 10% 
  • Work with preferred partners to strategically inform and advance the story of MITS and inform their networks regarding the mission of MITS.
  • ​Work with ED to create strategies for growing the mission of MITS.
  • Work with ED and DPE to develop and execute strategies for advancing the story of MITS and growing the support of MITS in parts of U.S. where it is less known.
  • ​Work with DPE to manage event follow up – including thank you​ acknowledgment of donors and volunteers – to build relationships.
Advocacy and Issue Awareness - 10% 
  • Promote the work of MITS and other successful NGOs who are loving, serving, and seeking to change the path for children living on the streets.
  • ​Advocate to change-makers and influencers who can positively impact the lives of street children.
  • Educate supporters and non-supporters of MITS regarding the issues facing children living on the streets around the World.
  • Effectively use innovative technologies and methods to inform the public and advocate for street kids (i.e. podcasts, blogs, social media channels, etc.).
  • ​Develop an effective Public Relations campaign to broaden awareness of the issues facing children living on the streets around the World.

Mission Trip and Mission Specialist Support - 5%
  • Promote, recruit, and encourage supporters to visit MITS in Kenya via short-term mission trips or as mission specialists.
  • ​Meet and communicate with current and prospective donors on a continual basis to relationally grow their affinity for the organization.
  • Work with MITS team to ensure successful short-term mission trips.
  • Lead overseas trips to MITS in Kenya as necessary.
  • Develop and lead short-term mission trip pre-training and debriefing.
  • Develop and enhance opportunities for mission trip participants and mission specialist to further their faith journey and deepen their relationship with God.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Executive Director


QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree in related field of study.
  • Minimum two years related experience; nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with remote office systems - including spreadsheets, word processing and
  • “teams”. Familiarity with cloud-based CRM (i.e. Salesforce) or donor management (i.e.
  • Kindful, Virtous, etc.) a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work as a team member with minimal
  • supervision.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills and excellent phone manner.
  • Public speaking experience a plus.
  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet
  • deadlines.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot standard office equipment without assistance.
  • Ability to operate within monthly and annual budgets.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel as needed (up to 50% travel is possible).
