A MITS Accounting intern lives in Kenya for 3 months. During that time, you will work alongside our Kenyan administration to support the accounting process.. You will attend chapel and our staff meeting each morning and go about your day in constant contact with the staff and students.
The Accounting internship is a great opportunity to offer your skills and education in support of transforming lives of teens in Kenya. Daily contact and interaction with our upper level administration will allow for you to gain international accounting experience while also learning critical cultural communication skills. In the midst of this learning, you will also be contributing a great deal to our team from the things you learned/are learning in your college accounting courses. This allows for a true cross cultural exchange of gifts and ideas.

All MITS interns are expected to work 30 hours each week. If your weekly duties do not add up to 30 hours of work, please make yourself available to our MITS staff for additional work assignments.

MUST HAVE:
- Completed your sophomore year of college at the start of your time in Kenya
- Solid foundation of accounting basics
- A laptop
- Patience
HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Excel and/or Quickbooks
- Previous accounting experience with non-profit or business
- Teaching experience of any kind
EXPECTATIONS:
- Assist with basic accounting and budgeting for programs and ministries of MADE IN THE STREETS
- Work alongside our Kenyan administration on a daily basis while in Kenya
- Listen and learn first. Show and teach second.
