Visitor Code of Conduct

  1. Do not leave the campus on your own without some of the leading team members knowing what you plan to do. It is best to have a team member with you.

  2. We ask everyone to be in their residences by 7:00 PM each evening. Sometimes you will eat meals with team members or with other visitors, causing you to be out later. Please do not walk after dark lone. It is best if one of our guards walks with you or if you walk with a group.

  3. Do not take it on yourself to solve MITS student problems. If you believe something needs to be done that is not being done, please discuss it with a team member.

  4. We expect all visitors and interns to be in chapel on weekdays at 8:00 AM, in Sunday morning Bible class and in Sunday worship at either Kamulu or Eastleigh church. If you do not attend, it communicates to students that it is not important.

  5. Be flexible and willing to do what is needed. You will come with certain plans and purposes in mind, but something may be needed from you. If a team member asks you to perform a task, please be willing.

  6. Keep your residence clean, inside and outside.

  7. If you want to make a trip somewhere in Nairobi or Kenya, arrange it well ahead of time, and please do not make great demands on team members' time who drive you places. All of them have work to do, but don't hesitate to ask. You need a driver and a vehicle, so planning is necessary. And please realize that it will always take more time than you expect to go places and do things in Nairobi.

  8. Keep your behavior and language at the highest moral level. We want you to help make our students and team into stronger and better people.

  9. Please do not hang out with your group most of the time. Spend time with team members. Spend time with students.

  10. Above all, make Jesus Christ the focus of your life in the time you are with MITS. This is the most valuable contribution you can make to our life together.
