UPDATE: Christ completed his first Ironman Triathlon on May 19, 2012. He managed to raise over $3,000 for Made in the Streets through his family, friends and network of supporters! 100% of this money will be given to MITS to further the ministry in Kenya. Congratulations, Chris and thank you for loving street kids. Asante Sana.
Its not too late to donate to MITS in recognition of Chris' accomplishment. Use the donate options at the bottom of this page to show your support.
One of our friends from Texas, Chris Leverett, will be competing in an Ironman Triathlon in May 2012 to help raise funds for Made in the Streets. The Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2 mile marathon run. That's a total of 140.6 total miles.
Chris talks about his training and faith this way:
"I compare Ironman training to my Faith. Our relationship with God takes discipline; doing what we don't want to do at first. If we have faith and apply His way daily, our relationship begins to develop and get stronger. Good habits begin even though we often do not measure up. The impossible and the uncomfortable become a blessing that we enjoy through the restoration process. Christ made us perfect with his sacrifice. Although we are not perfect, we can daily take up the cross and follow Him."
He invites you to donate to the ministry as a show of support and encouragement during his training. In recognition of the three triathlon events, you can donate in amounts of $2.40 (2.4 mile swim), $112.00 (112 mile bike ride), or $26.20 (26.2 mile run).
You can keep up with Chris' progress on Facebook, Twitter or visit his Blog.
